The Amazing Miss Shinies were in Ooty.
And they wanted to go everywhere
Without moving a hair.
(Though they knew this wasn’t possible.)
“TAXI-MADAM-TAXI,” shouted someone.
And without a blink,
They popped into one.
(Hoping he’d accept pencil shavings.)
So they went to Dodda betta peak
But soon got bored of the view
And the gazillion tourists, too.
(Though there was one rather handsome goat.)
Then they went to the Botanical Garden
And walked elegantly for a while
Arm-in-arm and in style.
(Until an old man in a monkey cap giggled.)
Before they began to protest,
He dug his hand into his right pocket
And offered them a huge piece of chocolate.
(Fig and Honey – who could resist?!)
Then, they smiled and said, “Hello.”
Could they have some more?
Quite fl atly, he said, “No.”
(Not till he had a pencil shaving first.)
In a fl ash, they pulled the ones
Tucked behind their ear
For nothing but good cheer.
(And to be truthful, scratching.)
The handsome goat had followed them
And was chewing one Shiny’s shoelace
At a very peaceful pace.
(She didn’t notice him till he said,”Baa.”)
