The Amazing Miss Shinies
Seemed to have fallen ill
But refused to take pills
(Or Waterbury's Compound, which Ajmal offered.)
"Please bring us a sea
Of hot chocolate," they insisted.
They weren't tight-fi sted!
(Of course, they'd reward him.)
Ajmal's eyes lit up.
"Why not a cloud of cotton candy?
Wouldn't that be simply dandy?"
(The Shinies coughed joyfully in reply.)
And he went on:
"Or a mountain of candy bars
That look like stars???"
(The Shinies seemed to have a twinkling fit.)
"A volcano of ice-cream?"
He pleasantly enquired.
The Shinies were inspired.
(And nodded their head, battily.)
"But I CAN'T,"
He said, laughing wheezily.
But the Shinies smiled breezily.
(Hadn't they heard him?)
"But I CAN'T," he repeated.
The Shinies looked blank.
Ajmal's heart sank.
(Weren't they going to make a fuss?!)
Normally, they would have
Thrown him right out
Or given him a clout
(Maybe they were really ill.)
