The Amazing Miss Shinies had company.
Two ladies who had moved in next door
Were now sitting on their floor.
(They’d come uninvited, of course.)
The Shinies cheerfully burnt their tea,
Hoping they would flee,
But that wasn’t meant to be.
(The thin one asked for a refill.)
“There is no more burnt tea,”
Said one Shiny, not sweetly.
“Will you please get out, kindly?”
(You must remember they weren’t sociable.)
“But that’s perfectly OK,”
Said the the fat lady.
“I live on air, anyway.”
(She bounced to prove her point.)
She was Fatauntie.
She simply hated gravity.
Her sister was Thinauntie.
(Who didn't mind it so much.)
So Fatauntie bounced
While Thinauntie drank
And said as she flounced,
(“Aren’t simply enchanting?”)
From behind her ear,
Thinauntie pulled out a rose.
“It’s true, she can dance with stilettos.”
(She bit into the fl ower, reflecting.)
Suddenly, something tugged at her hair,
It was poor Fatauntie!
She was stuck in mid-air.
(Looking positively annoyed.)
The Amazing Miss Shinies
Wiped away tears of laughter,
Oh, what a glorious disaster!
(But Fatauntie looked very sad.)
The lights on her tights were fl ashing,
She sighed dramatically,
“Luckily, they still look dashing.
(It helps when one is going to die.”)
Thinauntie said, “It isn’t so bad,
As long as you believe in an afterlife.”
This made Fatauntie mad.
(“AUUUUUGHHHHHH!” she cried.)
To Fatauntie, the Shinies said,
“Shoo, you drama queen!”
And she cried, “You two are mean!”
(But the Shinies already knew that.)
Thinauntie said, “I am so stressed.
I’d like to do some painting.
Would Fatauntie do some fainting?”
(Faints inspired her, she told the Shinies.)
Fatauntie immediately cheered up.
Then remembered she was stuck,
Bah, it was just her luck!
(But the Shinies had an idea.)
They went on either side of
Fatauntie, who was making a huge din,
And were going to prick her with a pin,
(But she sailed, whistling, on to the floor.)
Stuck?!She? HA! She was kidding!
And as Thinauntie diligently painted,
Fatauntie jumped and fainted.
(An impressive fi fty times! The Shinies counted.)
